  • Lot n° 48 A CONTINENTAL BAROQUE STYLE SILVER AND ONYX MIXOPARTHENOS TAZZA BASE, 19TH C. An exquisite object de vertu from Continental Europe, baroque eclectic style, dated as the second half of the 19th century. This tazza base, made out of silver and banded agate, has a central motif of a mythological Mixoparthenos and a double-tailed mermaid from the Black Sea. A Garland with musical instruments runs all around the onyx section. Several silver hallmarks are present but of difficult to read. The piece itself probably originally supported a bowl.
