The set presented in the catalog has been subjected to an in-depth study carried out by Dr. Valeria Cafá, Director of the Civic Museums of Vicenza. Dating back to March 2011, this study was carried out with the intent of recognizing the subjects represented in the cameos that compose the jewels, as well as tracing the ownership of the famous sculptor Antonio Canova, then donated to Chiara Francesconi, wife of Valentino, granddaughter of the famous Floriano Francesconi founder of the oldest "Bottega da Caffè" in the world, the famous "Caffè Florian" in Piazza San Marco in Venice. Written sources testify to how the artist was linked to the Francesconi family by a long and sincere friendship. In fact, he spent his last days before passing away hosted by the Francesconi family. In the manual "Memoirs of Antonio Canova" by J.S. Memes it is mentioned that Canova used to collect cameos to then mount them on rings, which he himself wore. The set presented in the catalogue was given by the artist to his mother, and passed from hand to hand until reaching the Francesconi family.
