  • Lot n° 105 A mid 17th century pre pendulum brass lantern clock (now with anchor escapement) Jeremiah Gregory, London Jeremiah Gregory, London The case surmounted by a single finial over a bell and bell stand supported by four further matching finials, the front and sides with pierced frets, the front fret adorned with a central coat of arms and later dated 1734 above the signature Jeremiah Gregory, Londini, the corners supported by simple columns with opening doors to each side, the back with steel back plate showing evidence of a removed alarm train with hook and spike, terminating in four turned ball feet. The 6.25 inch brass dial with Roman chapter ring intercepted by "bud" half hour markers, the spandrels with simple floral engraving and the centre with a ring of tulip engraving, the dial centre plain (formerly with alarm disc) with original steel hour hand. The two train 30 hour movement with external count wheel striking the hours on a bell mounted above, the going train converted to anchor escapement from a balance wheel, currently in unrestored condition, sold together with a brass pendulum bob and brass clad weight. 40cms (16ins) high.
