A fine and rare Saxon enamelled Royal armorial beaker, early 18th century
Of attractive small size, the gently tapering cylindrical form with an applied footring, finely painted with the colourful crowned arms of Augustus the Strong, Elector of Saxony and King of Poland, flanked by two putti respectively holding a sword and sceptre, an assortment of martial trophies below, a banner above inscribed 'F.A.R.P.E.S', all within borders of foliate garlands, 9.8cm high
