The case with shaped pointed arched top and crocket finials over rippled sides, the front applied with ormolu mounts of foliage and linked flowerheads, with harebells to the base and heavy lions paw feet, the sides with substantial glazed panels. The 4.75 inch gilt engraved dial with strike/silent subsidiary over a Roman chapter ring with outer minute band and three blued steel hands, signed John Moore & Sons, Clerkenwell, London, No.1043 within a rich engraved pattern of foliate scrollwork on a hatched ground. The substantial twin chain fusee movement with thick plates united by five tapering pillars, the going train with maintaining power and the original lever platform escapement with heavy monometallic balance mounted vertically on the backplate, the strike train with rack and snail acting on a bell. Signed and numbered on the backplate. Ticking and striking. 36cms (14.5ins) high.
