The case surmounted by a gilt brass urn over a moulded top, the front with four gilt mounts to each spandrel to a long trunk door with glazed front and gilt brass surround, terminating in a moulded base and further raised on a large plinth. The 12 inch white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers with red calendar ring and moon phase beneath 12 o'clock, signed in the centre Dufour a Laferte with centre seconds and pierced gilt brass hands. The movement with five pinned pillars with half deadbeat escapement with large cut-out to the back plate for the pallets with long gridiron pendulum, striking the hours on a polished bell mounted above via an external numbered count wheel, the back plate engraved with the maker's signature, currently ticking and striking. 2.18m (7.16ft) high.
