A fine late 18th century French white marble ormolu and patinated bronze mantel clock Lepine, Paris Lepine, Paris
The case sumounted by a seated eagle over floral decoration, the sides with patterned bronze figures reading books with a central ormolu panel depicting seated cherubs above a sunburst panel with further panels to the sides, set on a white marble base and resting on six finely cast ormolu feet. The 5.5 inch white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and Arabic five minute markers with red calendar numerals and blued steel calendar hand, signed beneath with finely finished pierced gilt hands. The two train movement signed on the back plate by the maker, striking the hours and half hours on a polished bell mounted behind, currently ticking and striking. 55cms (22ins) high.
