The case sumounted by a brass carrying handle over an inverted bell top with moulded cornice, the front with later brass sound frets, the sides with later silk backed sound frets, terminating in a moulded base and sitting on four elaborately cast feet. The 8 inch brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring, the matted centre with calendar aperture beneath 12 o'clock signed in a central cartouche Joseph Harding, London, framed by cast brass spandrels with strike/silent subsidiary to the break arch. The triple chain fusee movement with half deadbeat escapement converted from verge, striking the hours on a large polished bell and chiming the quarters on a nest of eight bells and hammers, the back plate engraved with floral swags, currently ticking and chiming. 58cms (23ins) high.
