A fine first quarter of the 19th century mahogany architectural longcase clock. Vulliamy, London, No. 781 Vulliamy, London, No. 781
The case surmounted by a triangular pediment with fine mouldings over canted reeded corners with inlaid brass flutes, the long trunk door with finely moulded edge framing the flamed veneered front, over a moulded base and double plinth. The 12 inch silvered one piece brass dial signed and numbered for the maker Vulliamy, London, 781, with Roman numerals to the main chapter ring and outer Arabic minute track, a subsidiary seconds ring below XII and date aperture above VI, with blued steel hands. The fine quality eight day movement with pinned knopped pillars and precision wheelwork, striking the hours on a bell mounted above the movement, with lozenge-section wood rod pendulum and heavy brass bob, powered by two brass cased weights. Ticking and striking. 2.09m (8.8ft) high.
