The case surmounted by a ribbed brass handle over a rectangular bevelled glass observation window, repeat button and deeply moulded cornice with dentil moulding supported by four Doric columns framed by pierced gilt panels of flowers against a fine lattice ground, on a moulded plinth and block feet. The 3 inch dial with silvered Arabic chapter ring in a matching pierced mask, signed below 12 for the retailer Joseph Penlington, Paris, with blued steel hands. The two train movement with silvered lever platform escapement striking the hours and half hours on a blued steel gong mounted to the backplate signed EM & Co, Paris and numbered 2043 currently not ticking but striking. 21cms (8ins) high.
