A fine and rare early 20th century French minute repeating gilt brass petite sonnerie miniature carriage clock The fancy case with cast handle over a glazed inspection panel in a foliate cast frame, the ripple moulded cornice set on Corinthian style columns to a matching foliate-cast base on block feet. The 1.5 inch white enamel Roman and Arabic dial with Breguet moon hands set over an alarm-setting dial within an elaborately pierced foliate scroll mask backed in red silk, the side panels similarly inlaid, with a glazed rear door. The highly polished movement with jewelled lever platform escapement with compensated bimetallic balance, striking the quarters and hours on a pair of blued steel gongs. Furthermore with the rare facility to repeat the time to the nearest minute on depression of a button to the top. Ticking and repeating. 14cms (5.5ins) high.
