A set of five George III painted and parcel gilt open armchairs 1775-1780 (5) 1775-1780
Each with an oval back surmounted by an acanthus carved toprail centred with an anthemion and demi-rosette cresting, with s-scroll carved and channelled downswept arm terminals, above a serpentine seat frame centred by a flowerhead within a pearled oval surround, on ring turned and stiff-leaf headed fluted tapering front legs terminating in lobed feet, with splayed rear legs, re-decorated, some minor variation in proportions, with an exposed cross strut to the reverse, the seat rails with cramp cuts and batten carrying screw holes, approximately: 60.5cm wide x 53cm deep x 95.5cm high, (23 1/2in wide x 20 1/2in deep x 37 1/2in high) (5)
