Movm.: 3/4 plate movement, lever escapement, gold screw compensation balance. Swiss watch manufactory Ed Heuer & Co. had the name "Pulsographe" patented in 1908 (déposé means patent). This signature is the only one present on the timepiece. Heuer chronographs have always been much coveted by the collectors, but a brand’s signature is not always available on the dial or the movement. This means that many collectors miss out on valuable early chronographs by renowned makers, who in the early days often fitted their chronograph modules to movements by other brands or even retailed other brands’ finished chronograph movements. Edouard Heuer is the most important early chronograph maker. With his manifold constructions he impacted the design of modern chronographs like no other. Heuer began serial production of chronographs and stop watches in the early 1880s, in response to the demands of his sports-mad clientele. After Henry A. Lugrin in New York, Edouard Heuer was the first maker to venture into serial production of chronographs. It was Heuer‘s ratchet mechanism operating the three functions start, stop and zero setting, which paved the way for modern chronographs. As early as 1893 the Edouard Heuer company supplied their chronograph movements to important national and international manufacturers. New developments followed, such as stop watches with rattrapante function. This type of stop watch was used by the military but also in industry and sports. In recognition of their outstanding achievement, the Heuer company was assigned the task of timekeeping at the 1920’s Olympics. Special stop watches were developed for physicians, artillerymen, manufacturers and even fishermen. Then the company started producing wrist chronographs, which were in particularly high demand on the American market. Source: hans-weil.faszination-uhrwerk.de Case: very good, a dent.
