  • Lot n° 207 Audemars Piguet - Royal Oak Automatic A charismatic neo-vintage Geneva wristwatch with date and centre seconds Movm. No. 269932, Ref. 4332ST, Cal. 2125 (JLC), Case No. B-97306 / No. 078, Dimensions 36 mm, circa 1984, Origin Schweiz, Original box Case: Steel, screwed on back, screwed crown, AP steel bracelet with AP flip lock deployant clasp, total length 185 mm. Dial: Black, "Petite Tapisserie" guilloche pattern. Movm.: Automatic. In 1972 the 39 mm Royal Oak 5402 attracted much interest: The watch was generally regarded as too large. In Jahr 1977 model 4100 brought a change by reducing the size of the Royal Oak for gentlemen to 35 mm. In 1983 the 36 mm Royal Oak 4332 was launched. This size should set the standard for the range for the next 32 years (with the exception of reference 14486, introduced in 1986) and was used in over 50 models. The production volume of reference 4332 is the smallest among the nuclear Royal Oak range. Of 895 pieces recorded in the Audemars Piguet archives, 484 were fitted with calibre 2124, 406 with calibre 2125 and five with calibre 2123. In 1983 85 watches were delivered and 321 in the year after. In 1985 the model was renamed in "14332" in a production volume of 248 pieces. When the sucessor 14486 (35 mm) was launched in 1986, production was reduced to 176 watches and to 30 pieces in the year after. Individual examples were sold until 1996. Altogether only 895 examples of reference (1)4332 were sold, with 376 pieces in steel/yellow gold, 298 in yellow gold, 201 in steel and10 pieces in white gold.
