The case surmounted by a brass handle of entwined dolphins on foliate pommels over a caddy top with applied silk-backed repoussé sound frets and four fancy cast brass urn finials, over a simple moulded cornice, the front door with matching repoussé frets and symmetrical lock escutcheons, the sides with further silk-backed frets above glazed windows, sitting on a simple moulded base on four brass bun feet. The 6 inch square dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with fancy cruciform half hour markers, the matted centre with chamfered calendar aperture and blued steel hands framed by winged cherubs head spandrels. The movement united by five twin-baluster turned pillars with double gut fusee, now with a 19th century anchor escapement, but retaining the external count wheel to the back plate which strikes on a bell;, the back plate with single line border framing a symmetrical scene of pairs of flowers and foliate scrolls, signed in a central cartouche Henry Jones, in the Temple. Ticking and striking, sold with later winding and case keys. 33cms (13ins) high.
