• Paul Deltombe, French 1878-1971 - Allégorie des récoltes; oil on canvas, signed lower right 'Deltombe', 172.6 x 97.7 cm (unframed) (ARR) Provenance: a Private Collection of French Naturalist Painters Note: with labels for unidentified exhibition and Robinot Frères et Cie, Salon des Independents, 1931 attached to the reverse of the stretcher. Deltombe exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants where he met Paul Signac, the founder of the Indépendants, where Deltombe helped him organise exhibitions. He continued to exhibit widely and held prestigious positions including the Director of the École des Beaux-Arts de Nantes from 1931 to 1943. Retrospectives of his work have been held across France in the years following his death in 1972.
