The oval copper medallion decorated in gold hiramaki-e (low-relief lacquer) with details embellished with inlaid gold foil, against a black ground, the sitters both looking to sinister, the first inscribed CHARLES III. dit LEGRRAS, the rear inscribed Empereur / XXVIII e Roy de France. / Mort en souobele 8. Janvier 888. apres 3 ans du regne. , the second inscribed CHARLES VI., the rear inscribed LIIe e Roy de France. / Morta Paris, le 21 Octobre 1422 / Apres 42 ans de regne., both with copper gilt swept articulated circular suspension loops,
