The case surmounted by a brass carrying handle over a caddy top with brass finials to each corner over a moulded top, the plain front with pierced wooden sound frets, the sides with glazed observation windows and further pierced sound frets, terminating in a moulded base. The 4 inch brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with cruciform half hour markers, the matted centre with Arabic alarm setting disc and blued steel hands framed by cast brass spandrels, signed in the break arch John Taylor, London within floral engraving with calendar aperture. The small double fusee movement with short bob pendulum and verge escapement, striking the hours via rack and snail on a bell mounted above, the back plate finely engraved with floral swags and signed in a central cartouche John Taylor, London above a mask, currently ticking and striking, sold together with a case key and later custom made winding key engraved with the makers name. 30cms (12ins) high.
