• Lot n° 1081 China, inscription dated 1929 95 x 44 cm Ink on paper, mounted as a long hanging scroll. In the style of Wen Zhengming after his famous painting "Strolling in the Courtyard by Moonlight": Three scholars meet in the courtyard by moonlight in autumn. Long inscription, cyclically dated jisi (1929), signed: Xinhu. Four artist's seals: Xinhu, Lou Xu, ziran, Lou Cun wuchen hou yiming Xu. Inscribed title strip on the outside of the scroll. From an old German private collection, mostly acquired in Asia in the 1960s/1970s, since then in family possession - Minor signs of age, otherwise in good condition Lou Xinhu (1880-1950), originally Lou Cun, came from Jinyun in Zhejiang province. He later moved to Shanghai. He was a talented landscape painter, a member of the Xiling Seal Society and a close friend of Wu Changshuo, from whom he learnt the art of seal carving
