The case sumounted by a brass carrying handle over a shallow inverted bell top, the front with simple pierced wood sound frets backed in red silk with inlaid brass sight around the front door, the sides with further pierced wooden frets backed in silk and the back with a glazed observation window, terminating in a moulded base and resting on four brass block feet. The 7 inch brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with finely matted centre, calendar aperture and blued steel hands framed by four cast brass floral spandrels with strike/silent subsidiary and pendulum rise and fall to the break arch signed in a silvered plaque Vulliamy, London number 311. The movement powered by a pair of gut fusees to a half deadbeat escapement with pendulum rise and fall indication, with steel rod pendulum terminating in a heavy lenticular bob, the back plate plain bar a central engraved cartouche signed Vulliamy, London, No. 311, rack strike for the hours on a polished bell mounted above. Ticking and striking, sold together with a bespoke matching wall bracket, a winding key and a copy of the extract from the Vulliamy workbooks. The clock 41cms (16ins) high. The bracket a further 21cms (8.25ins) high.
