• Lot n° 195 Japan, sign. Hôju (Toyohisa), late Meiji/Taishō period H. 17,2-18,2 cm Bronze with a dark patina, each with on a separate wooden base. 1) A standing young woman, wearing a kimono and headscarf, sweeps the floor with a long broom, while a small dog sits attentively at her feet, directly beside the broom. 2) Ninomiya Sontoku (born Ninomiya Kinjirō - a symbol of diligence, virtue, and self-education) reads intently from an open book; he carries a paper lantern in his left hand and wears a small wooden box at his waist. Both figures are signed *Hôju* (Toyohisa) 豊寿 on the reverse. From an old German private collection - Very minimally wear
