A late 18th century ebonised musical table clock playing six tunes on 13 bells and hammers William Robson, London William Robson, London
The case sumounted by a cast brass finial over a pagoda top with silk backed sound frets, the break arch with moulded front, the corners with cast finials, the plain front with brass lock escutcheon to the left hand side flanked by cast female mounts with floral decoration, the sides with carrying handles and elaborately cast sound frets, terminating in a moulded base with further mounts and standing on four cast brass feet. The 8 inch repainted dial with Roman numerals on a white ground with gilt hands framed by cast brass spandrels, with calendar subsidiary to the upper left and tune selection to the right, offering Dance, Minuet, Air, Song, Dance and Song signed in a recessed cartouche to the break arch William Robson, London. The triple fusee movement with verge escapement and short bob pendulum, striking the hours on a polished bell and chiming the quarters and playing tunes on a nest of 13 bells and hammers mounted above, the back plate finely engraved with floral decoration, currently ticking and striking. 66cms (26ins) high.
