the foliate-tied handle over a large bevelled glass inspection panel with internal repeat button framed by a moulded cornice on curved uprights to a moulded base, with bevelled glazed sides and a solid rear door with shutters to access hand setting and winding, with regulation slot and Strike/Silent lever. The 2.5 inch rectangular dial with Roman chapter ring within a mask of foliage against a hatched ground, with polished signature plaque signed JAMES MCCABE, Royal Exchange, London, 2486. The twin chain fusee movement with maintaining power to the cruciform-shaped platform carrying the gilt metal monometallic balance and underslung lever escapement, striking on a coiled steel gong. 18.5cms (7.25ins) high.
