A good, decorative table clock, the 17th century movement now with later dial and re-decorated case in the Chinoiserie manner on an ivory coloured ground Joseph Williamson, London Joseph Williamson, London
The case surmounted by a double S-tied carrying handle over a shallow caddy top with four pineapple finials to each corner over a moulded-top, the front with a simple brass escutcheon for the lock, the sides with glazed observation windows, terminating in a moulded base and sitting on four brass ball feet, the whole decorated in chinoiserie decoration. The 7.75 inch brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with unusual half hour markers to a matted centre with mock pendulum aperture and blued steel hands framed by four cast brass cherub head spandrels with a strike/silent dial above 12 o'clock. The fine 17th century movement with five robust knopped pillars with twin fusees now running on steel lines with verge escapement and short bob pendulum with finely finished steel pendulum lock, striking the hours on a bell mounted above, formerly with pull quarter repeat, the back plate finely engraved with eagles and symmetrical floral patterns, signed in a central cartouche Jos Williamson, London, currently ticking and striking. 41cms (16.5ins) high.
