The case sumounted by a turned urn finial over a pagoda top with silk backed sound frets to the break arch with moulded surround, the front with marquetry inlay, the sides with brass fish scale sound frets backed in silk and carrying handles to each side, terminating in a moulded base and resting on four brass ogee feet. The 8 inch painted white dial with black Roman numerals and blued steel hands with concealed strike/silent above, signed in the centre Robert Wood, London. The large three train triple fusee movement with anchor escapement, striking the hours on a polished bell mounted above and chiming the quarters on a nest of eight graduated bells and hammers, the back plate with simple engraved decoration, currently ticking and striking. 59cms (23.25ins) high.
