• Lot n° 777 China, 19th cent. 172 x 164 cm Wool (dark red), plain weave, fulled. Imported from the West. Lower part from cotton (beige), plain weave. Embroidery: colored silk, satin stitch; gold thread, appliqué technique. The mighty golden dragon is hovering around a flaming pearl between clouds above the central rock rising from the waves. The ‘Eight Buddhist Treasures’ (Ashtamangala) with fluttering ribbons and black bats are dispersed between the clouds. German private collection, by tradition acquired in the 1980s Traces of age and use, slightly rubbed, some discoloration in places, edge probably slightly trimmed. Velcro tape sewn onto the top of the back for hanging, some repairs
