From a Berlin private collection, by repute acquired in a gallery in Berlin from an exhibition - Minimally wear, a small colour flaking in the upper area Yeo Hoe Koon (born 1935 in Hainan) is a prominent pioneer of modern art in Singapore, renowned for his avant-garde, abstract landscapes. Following his formative art studies in Paris, he developed a distinctive style that fuses the thick, block-like fields of color characteristic of Western modernism with the meditative lightness of Chinese ink painting. Around 1991, he engaged intensively with abstractions of historical or imaginary cities.
