The case with flat moulded top over a pierced sound fret supported by twisted Doric columns, with glazed observation windows to the sides, the panelled trunk door centred by a brass lenticle and simple lock escutcheon, over a plain base and bun feet. The 10 inch square brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with unusual fleur-de-lys half hour markers, the matted centre with ringed winding squares, decorated calendar aperture and subsidiary seconds, with finely finished blued steel hands framed by four cast brass cherubs head spandrels, signed at VI Daniel Quare, London. The two train movement plated movement with anchor escapement and internal count wheel strike, striking the hours on a bell mounted above, united by five pinned pillars. Ticking and striking, sold together with a pendulum, two brass clad weights, a door key and a crank winder. 1.98m (6.5ft) high.
