• Lot n° 68 Japan, Japan, dated the 25th day of the 7th month of Enkyō 1 (1744), kinoe-ne year H. 58,5 cm Finely carved from a single block of dark stone on a rectangular plinth, the standing figure depicted with hands joined in gasshō (prayer gesture), clad in voluminous monastic robes falling in deeply cut, rhythmic folds. The serene face is rendered with gently closed eyes, arched brows and a subtle smile, conveying an expression of contemplative devotion. The right and left side of the robe is incised with a vertical inscription: Tankō Zenteimon (personal name; not a donor's name).
