The central compartment contains scenes from the Dodekaorton and the Passion cycle, including the Baptism of Christ, the Raising of Lazarus, the Entry into Jerusalem, the Crucifixion, the Anastasis, the Myrrhbearers at the Tomb, the Ascension, and the Transfiguration. Left wing presents episodes from the life of Elijah within a mountainous wilderness landscape, together with the Annunciation and other prophetic prefigurations, while the opposite wing includes an icon of Catherine of Alexandria, traditionally painted in strong colours, the saint enthroned with her attributes, with Holy Unmercenary Saints Cosmas and Damian on verso of Elijah open: 41 x 55 cm (16 1/8 x 55 in); closed: 41 x 20 cm (16 1/8 x 7 7/8 in).
