  • Lot n° 120 An early 18th century ebony cased quarter repeating table clock timepiece Thomas Lumpkin, London Thomas Lumpkin, London The caddy top case surmounted by a knopped carrying handle over a moulded cornice and glazed side apertures to a moulded base on small block feet, the front door with repousse brass sound fret centred by a cherub, against a red silk background. The 5.75 inch square brass dial with silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with cruciform half hour markers, lozenge half-quarter marks and signed either side of VI Thomas Lumpkin, London, the matted centre with mock pendulum and date apertures, both with fine wheatear engraving to their edges with blued steel hands framed by cast brass cherubs head spandrels. The fusee movement (now on a chain) with five knopped pillars and knife edge verge escapement to a short bob pendulum with pull quarter repeat repeat sounding the hours and quarters on two bells mounted above, the back plate framed by an engraved line border and bold floral scrolls surrounding the signature Thomas Lumpkin, London in a foliate cartouche. Currently ticking and repeating, sold together with a later ebonised bracket. 33cms (13ins) high.
