The gorge case of generous proportions with typical rippled handle over a large bevelled glass inspection panel, to moulded uprights and a tall moulded base. The 3.5-inch circular white enamel Roman and Arabic dial with minute track, blued steel hands and retailers signature set within an engraved gilt brass mask of formal foliate ornament. The substantial brass movement with a large silvered platform, compensated bimetallic balance, and English-style lever escapement, repeating and striking on a blued steel gong. Sold with the original numbered presentation box, embossed to the lid "The Revd.T. P. Little from the parishioners of Oxenhall and Panntley as a mark of their great affection and esteem, August 1883", together with the original numbered key. 25cms (10ins) high. (2)
